Abbreviated Prayer to Our Lady of Fatima
is a one-day rosary pilgrimage to nine designated Catholic churches in New York City on May 13th, 2022 - the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. Participants recite the rosary and devotions for world peace at the top of each hour, except for the opening rosary recitation which begins at 8:30 a.m. The Pilgrimage culminates with a Mass at 6 p.m. (see Novena Schedule).
Handouts with the rosary prayers will be available at every church. Prayer warriors can travel to all nine churches or attend as many rosary prayer sessions as desired. Coming together to pray as a community honors the Feast of Our Blessed Mother with the intention of pleading for peace in Ukraine and throughout the world.
Two Franciscan Sisters from Austria brought the idea of storming the altar to America in 1913 as an urgent request to help establish the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration Convent. After reciting the rosary for nine consecutive hours, the Capuchin Monastery of Saint Francis of Assisi in Milwaukee answered their prayers by assisting with the formation of the convent.
The NYC Pilgrimage for World Peace provides a timely call to action renewing Our Lady of Fatima's call for peace. On May 13th in 1917, Our Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children at Fatima in Portugal identifying herself as Our Lady of the Rosary. She gave them an urgent message to pray for world peace and to make sacrifices for the conversion of sinners. Her message was one of hope, repentance and conversion for the whole world.
"Pray the rosary everyday to obtain peace for the world and
the end of the war." —Our Lady of Fatima
